Where's The Spark? by Jacqueline Davis Moranti |
A little love note to myself.......
Sometimes we hit road blocks. We smack into a wall and can't get up, but that's life. There will always be obstacles that try to hinder our progression, but you must remember not to let it stop us from doing what we love, blogging. I have gone through some tough times in my life, it made me doubt myself and reconsider this whole blogging initiative. After some much needed alone time, I realized why I love it and what I should do to keep myself motivated and going strong!
- Keep a notebook/ sketchbook at hand. Whenever we go through major emotional periods we tend to be the most creative, make sure to capture that because when you come back to that page in your notebook, you'll realize it's a genius idea for your next project! Alot of artists have created their best works during times of great pain, i.e. Frida Kahlo and Vincent Van Gogh. I don't know why, but I feel this surge of creativity after stressful moments, I guess it's my way of expressing myself!
-Read old emails/ letters that made you happy or inspired. This really helps bring a smile to my face! Then after you finish reading the letters, create a moodboard and figure out why it was so inspiring. It will help you set a goal for yourself so that next time you're feeling like your in a slump, you will know exactly how to pull yourself out!
-Surround yourself with great scents! Smelling an aromatic candle really helps me feel positive and optimistic, something about the scent of myrh, figs, and roses that really just make me happy. Try working with a Diptyque candle on, you're going to wonder when and how you've arrived at cloud nine!
-Stay productive! Keeping yourself busy will keep your mind from thinking about anything negative. You'll be too focused to think about anything other than what you're working on. You might even produce something you are proud of!
-Keep the passion. This is the most important tip, this is what separates you from the rest. Speaking without passion is like drawing without a pencil, dancing without music, building without tools. If you don't have the passion, it just doesn't make sense!
Hopefully my little note to myself can help you in your slumps like it did for me. Sometimes, I just need to sit down and look at this list to help me realize why I love what I do [blogging]. Every now and then we lose our mojo, the sooner we find it [our mojo] the stronger we become.
These are really great suggestions! Candles do the same thing for me. They are so soothing.
