Silk, crepe de chine, chiffon, cashmere, lyocell, rayon, linen, modal, wool, and polyester are all fabrics that most fashionistas own. All of these fabrics are also special materials that can only be dry cleaned versus machine washing which can be a a major drag to do every week. Dry cleaning can be a very costly venture but I absolutely love wearing my silk and rayon blouses! Which in turn makes me not want to wear them often so that I don't manage to soil them. If you're like me and love to enjoy some red wine every now and then, accidents happen!
Growing up, I remember watching my mother hand wash her delicates and special fabrics every couple of weeks, it made me realize that if I'm going to invest in pricey wardrobe essentials then I need to invest in special care products. Since I'm a Birchbox member, I got a special deal on a detergent and stain solution, my introduction to hand washing. Tocca Laundry Detergent and The Laundress Stain Solution are fantastic products that really work! The stain solution was able to get rid of wine stains from some of my favorite pants and shirts that I thought were completely hopeless. And then the detergent added that special touch with a beautiful feminine, floral scent! Taking care of my dry cleaning is liberating, I don't have to spend too much at the cleaners anymore, except when I have to get items hemmed, which is a whole other story! Utilizing the both products is simple, all you have to do is fill a sink/ bucket with lukewarm water, let the item soak and apply the detergent and massage it in. For stains use the stain solution on the affected area, rub it in and then let it sit until you feel the stain is dissolved! These products are a lifesaver to my wardrobe, never again will I freak out when I spill food or drinks on myself and I won't be afraid to wear my silks on hot days either! Dear readers, how do you take care of your dry clean only fabrics?
