Tartan Stripes

As I may have mentioned before, lately I've been dressing in layers and because of that, it's easy to get caught up in a "uniform." I wouldn't call it sheer laziness, but more of trying to battle the elements of the weather around here, one day it's freezing rain, next it's 8 inches of snow to an unseasonably mild 50 degree day! I think it's fair to say that the North Eastern states have been experiencing a strange winter season! Trying to combat the severe weather has me uniformly dressing in about three layers to prevent myself from catching hypothermia, and so far so good!

The key piece, for me this season is a great pair of boots that can help keep me upright in treacherous, icy situations. In this case it's my trusty pair of Doc Martens, I've tried others like Sorel and Hunter boots but their traction couldn't compare to America's oldest and hardworking boot brand. I would say, that 85% of my wintery looks have been based around my Docs, through rain and snow its the only boot that keeps me safe! Unlike the summer time, I love wearing jeans when the temps are really low, a layer of denim makes for great insulation.

Every now and then wearing jeans and boots can get quite monotonous, that's why I continually play around with patterns to keep things fun. Pairing basic black and white stripes with a tartan print seemed pretty adventurous for a cold and cloudy day in Philadelphia!

Groundhog day has come and passed, unfortunately the little critter has predicted six more wicked  weeks of winter. I'm totally yearning for that first day of spring already, can't deal with all this snow! Dear readers, would you say that in severe weather conditions you unconsciously tend to dress in a "uniform?" How do you battle the monotony?

  3. Yes, exactly! Winter really bores me and it's quite difficult dressing the way you want to but still remaining comfortable! #fashionbloggerproblems

  4. I actually find more versatility in winter fashion because there's so many more pieces you can play with! As compared to summer time when all you can do is wear a simple summer dress and hope you don't sweat your face off.
