Don't Be Afraid of The Prints

Illustrated by Jacqueline Davis Moranti

When the weather is warm and gorgeous, it's the best time to experiment with new trends that you may have been too hesitant try out. This season, one of the major trends to look into is wearing prints and patterns. Prints on prints or one highlighted print, it' s definitely a fun style  to try, one that I am totally infatuated with! Unfortunately, not everyone is keen on trying this trend out, some may think it's too bold and loud, or that it accentuates the "wrong parts" of their bodies. I tend to think otherwise, but there are other ways to conquer the trend for those that are meek of the heart.... wearing it on your feet!

Printed shoes are all the rage, and many can be found in beautiful, timeless styles like pumps, sandals, D'orsays, wedges, boots and so much more! Wearing patterns on your feet is an easy way to transition into the trend, shoes can match up with almost any outfit, even if it is an outfit with a lot of prints itself! I always say "Go bold or go home," but printed shoes look great with a solid ensemble and tend to liven up a neutral look. I've rounded up a few of my favorites for this season's fun outfits!

1) Snakeskin prints are here to stay, from dresses to outerwear this print has some major mainstay power! Snakeskin patterns on shoes are an easy way to incorporate the trend without going overboard if you're new to it. This pattern also tends to be more on the neutral side too meaning it can go with almost any color in your wardrobe. Some of my favorites snakeskin soles are from Shoemint, Jason Wu, Guiseppe Zanotti, and Nina Ricci.

2) How can we talk about Spring without mentioning floral prints!? One of my all time favorite patterns are that of carnations, daisies and marigolds. Florals have a way to bring a smile on to your face and brightening up your mood, they are the total spring fling! Some of my favorite flower concoctions include Manolo Blahnik, Oscar de La Renta, Free People, and Vans

3) One of my ultimate favorite neutral prints, the cheetah print is a fun choice for the summer months! Makes a simple body con dress pop with pizazz or a pair of denim explode with major style! Some of my favorite feline friendly shoes are from Jenni Kayne, Isaac Mizrahi, Loeffler Randall, and Dolce Vita

4) For the free spirited girl who would much rather wear abstract prints, the tribal print is definitely one to apply! Abstract prints go well with pretty much any look especially the bold black and whites. Some of my favorites include Dolce Vita, Steve Madden, and Rachel Roy

Hopefully my list of favorites has inspired you to try introducing prints to your feet. Wearing patterns is fun and can open up a whole new door of fashion choices, it makes for a great statement piece! Dear readers, how do you feel about wearing patterns on your shoes? Would you ever double up on your prints? looking forward to your thoughts!
