100 Years of (Men's) Fashion

Illustrated by Jacqueline Davis Moranti

I talk a lot about women's fashion because it's just so relevant to me, but I must admit that there's something about men's fashion that I love too. Men's fashion, as of late, has been quite unisex, since the early 2000's the "tomboy" chic style has been pretty popular. It's definitely favorable with me, from boyfriend jeans to moto jackets, skinny ties to oversized blazers. With the right pieces you can create the most tasteful tomboy look, it's an adjective that I would use to describe my personal style. As a young lass, It was just me and my brother, so many of my influences stemmed from him. I guess you could call it a natural instinct! Mode Fashion, which brought you a look through the century of fashion's past in three minutes has given us another look down memory lane, this time with men's fashion!

Mode's video provides us a nostalgic look at the fashions men have endured for the past century. I feel as though men didn't have to go through an awkward stage unlike women( ie. 1960s and under). From tailored pants to looser fitting pants, men pretty much rocked every era. My favorite looks were definitely 1985 and 2015. I loved this depiction of 80s fashion, that era is usually encapsulated with neon colored everything and tulle every where. This video showed the more toned down side of that era by dressing the model in a monochrome pastel look. I might be a bit biased because I have a love affair with minimalist looks, but this "Miami Vice" inspired look is totally spot on! The outfit for 2015 definitely capture's mens fashion now, that "model off- duty" look with simple layers such as denims. This is also an ensemble that can be identified as unisex, double the fun! Take a look at the video below and let me know what you think, dear readers.
