Orange is the new black! No, I don't mean Netflix's hit series, but I do mean that orange shades of lipsticks, balms and glosses are the latest trends in beauty nowadays! Rouges and berries have dominated the scene for a long while, from runways to celebrities everyone has red that they favor in their makeup bag. Corals and oranges are so bright and perfect for late summer's soirees and parties. Unlike the various reds we own, orange shapes of lip color are a bit harder to match to our undertones and complexions. Luckily, i've found a few that work with many and most complexions. Orange lips colors can be tricky but it's not impossible!
Sometimes, you want a color that lasts all day, or at least stay put until the end of your workday! I love Stila's Liquid Lipstick in Tesoro. It's a deep orange red, with a creamy formula that glides on like a gloss but acts more like a lip stain and lasts all day. Be careful not to smudge it though, once it sets, it's not budging! I tend to reach for this one for major events and date nights. It's a high powered color that deserves to be the main attraction on your face.
Tarte's Lipsurgence Lip Tints are a great cross between gloss, balm and stain. Nourishing your lips with natural moisturizers, essential oils and emollients. The shade I use is called Joy, a soft orange color for all day use. Lipsurgence also uses mint in it's formula to increase the skin's water content to give your lips a plumped up appearance.
When I think of crayons, I think of my grade school days with my box of 64 colors ranging from "tickle me pink" to "cookie monster blue." Crayons for adults sounds crazy but completely essential! My favorite lip crayon, Laqa & Co's Cheeky Lip in Cray Cray. This shade of orange is pretty soft with a hint of pink that can also be used as a cheek color. I love multitasking beauty products, it makes getting ready for anything much quicker. Blends absolutely easy and doesn't leave any harsh streaks.
Matte lip color will always be number one with me.I like glosses but a matte shade looks much more prettier to me. The concentrated and vitamin rich lipsticks from ModelCo are great all day wear matte lip colors. I use Disco Fever, the flirty coral orange color, a fantastic daytime shade that goes with most sun dresses! ModelCo's matte lipsticks are great for the "non- lipstick" girls out there, you forget it's on and don't feel overtop with the colors.
Can a woman ever have too many lipsticks? The answer is always one more than you currently own! We always need a new color to go with the changing seasons, and our ever changing style personality. Break away from the same and put down those reds for a nice shade of orange! Dear readers, I would love to know your thoughts on orange lip colors, would you wear them?
