When you think of your outfit for the day, what piece comes to mind first? Is it the top, the pants, the jewelry or the headband? For me, I think about the shoes first, from bottom to top! Shoes are an important part of any outfit, someone once told me that when you meet someone for the first time, they check out your shoes first as an evaluation. With that in mind, I make sure the shoes always fit the look I'm going for. Renowned designer, Stuart Weitzman also felt that way about shoes so much that he and his wife, Jane Weitzman, commissioned 33 artists to produce non functional art shoes for the Stuart Weitzman shop windows. Art & Sole is a visual book devoid of any text to highlight the beauty and wonderment of the Stuart Weitzman empire, and I've highlighted a few of my favorites for you!
These beautifully photographed selections beg to be removed and framed. The book does not offer context to why the shoes were commissioned but I was quite surprised by the variation in materials and fabrics used in the displays. Ranging from the structural to the ephemeral designs. Art & Sole will offer inspiration to those who study design and even big shoe lovers! At 200 pages, there is a shoe for every taste, and quite a few that I wish I could wear everyday!
This book will definitely touch your heart and "sole!" A must read for anyone who loves art and shoes, this book is a jewel and a work of art in it's own right. With lush photography and gold faceted edges this book would look well deserved on any coffee table to please all of your guests, even the non shoe lovers! Dear readers, have you checked out Art & Sole lately?
